Who still hires in October, November and December
- UK operators filling the last gaps. Chefs, chalet managers and nannies are the roles operators most often still advertise in the autumn (see VIP SKI, work for us). Main recruitment runs from May to August (Skiworld recruitment).
- Dropout replacements. People pull out before training week and some leave in the first weeks of the season, so short-notice roles appear right through December and into January. Have your documents, references and a packed bag ready.
- French resort employers. Bars, hotels, restaurants, lift companies and ski shops hire locally, mostly in French. Staff housing is a known problem in French resorts (France 3 Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, 16 September 2026), so ask about accommodation before you accept.
- North America. Resorts hold local hiring fairs a few weeks before they open (Vail Resorts hiring events). This suits people who already have the right to work there.

Work rights for British applicants
- Irish or other EU passport: you can work in France and the rest of the EU without a permit, which makes you the easiest late hire for a European employer.
- UK passport only: a French employer has to obtain a work permit for you, and you then need the matching visa. That has historically taken months (The Connexion, seasonal worker permits (2021)), so an October application rarely reaches a December start.
- Youth mobility: as of 25 September 2026 the proposed UK-EU youth experience scheme had not been agreed and was not open (The Connexion, 25 September 2026).
