These improvements, completed in 1936, inadvertently created the unique wave conditions that define The Wedge today.

The Wedge is recorded at 33.593° N, 117.882° W. A surf map fixes a name to one stretch of moving water, but the place changes with tide, swell direction, wind and the shape of the seabed.
