1967
Winter becomes organised
Snowmass opened for skiing in 1967 beside the newly incorporated village, creating a resort and settlement together rather than adding lifts to an old town.

A popular winter resort location for skiing and snowboarding, the town is well known as the location of the Snowmass ski area, the largest of the four nearby ski areas operated collectively as Aspen/Snowmass.
