2001
Surfing reads the same coast differently
In 2001 Chris Bertish, a South African big wave surfer, became the first to paddle into giant surf at Pe'ahi (Jaws).

Jaws/Pe'ahi is recorded at 20.942° N, 156.269° W. A surf map fixes a name to one stretch of moving water, but the place changes with tide, swell direction, wind and the shape of the seabed.
