As a Decorating Assistant you are a good team player who takes onboard instructions well but can also use their initiative. You enjoy working in the company of others and are comfortable in differing work environments. You don’t need to love Christmas, but you do need to love and take pride in creating something special. As a Decorating Assistant, here is a glimpse of a typical day: You’ll arrive at our premises near Marshfield, just off Jnct 18 of the M4 where you will meet with your team leader and ensure the van is loaded correctly before setting off to location. If the day’s location is closer to your home then you may be able to go direct. Upon arrival at site you will do a walk through with the team leader and take part in a ‘toolbox talk’ about the job in hand. You will be given clear instructions of your tasks. You will be comfortable working inside and out. You may be required to safely work at height/on a ladder to install some roofline lighting; or drilling into mortar to hang beautifully decorated garlands/ wreaths and wrapping trees with our stunning lighting. There is often the creation of decorations and preparation of stock to our high standards. You may also be working in a discreet environment decorating a large tree whilst the client continues with business around you. (Full training given) Whilst conducting your task you’ll be aware of your own Health and Safety, tidiness, and timeliness throughout the day. Quality is our main customer draw. You might come across small challenges but you’re confident in raising them with the team leader. It may be that you have to work for an extra hour due to the challenges but this is ok as you’re flexible, understand the job is to be done and will be paid accordingly. You have finished the installation and the site looks fantastic. You will tidy and make good the site before packing the van. You’ll ensure the van is loaded safely and set out back for the unit/home to complete the day. Days can be long but they are always rewarding. SALARY: £13.50 per hour - more available for relevant experience and van drivers.
