El Cotillo sits on the northwest coast of Fuerteventura, offering a mix of sheltered lagoon beaches and exposed reef/beach breaks. The main surf beach faces northwest and picks up Atlantic swell consistently. Volcanic rock outcrops create structure in the sandy bottom. The village retains a fishing-town character despite growing tourism. Warm water and reliable waves make it a popular European surf destination.
